The Fragrance Pyramid

Guess who is back to cultivate your knowledge on fragrances again?

Yes, it’s us from KEEF & NISH™ FUN SPACE! ( keefnish.com/blogs/keef-nish-fun-space )

Since we talked about the fragrance wheel and the type of perfumes on our previous posts, we’re here to tell you all about the type of notes and how it plays a part in choosing the right perfume for you!

Starting with the top notes, they’re also called the “head” notes. The top notes are always the freshest and it’s also the most obvious scent you’ll immediately smell upon the application of perfume.

It represents a person’s first impression on a perfume hence, it plays a huge role when it comes to choosing a perfume!

The middle notes, they’re also called the “𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵” notes because they’re the scent of a perfume that spring up just before the top notes dissipate.

The 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 notes last longer than the head notes, starting to develop 15 minutes upon perfume application, and they also have a strong pull on the base notes to pop up, plus they would last about 1 and a half hours to 3 hours.

The base notes which are the heaviest notes in a perfume. They’re usually the rich and deep type of scent and would only pop out after an hour or 2 after application of perfume.

They’re also the final scents that appear once the top notes are completely gone. 🌬

They interlace with the middle notes to create the full build of the perfume plus they’re usually connected with the dry-down period.

The priority of the base notes are to provide the lasting impression of a perfume!

Without the combinations of these 3 notes, a perfume won’t be as aromatically appealing as a good perfume. So they’re all combined to create a perfect fragrance!

One way to start learning your own preferences is to become familiar with the fragrance wheel.
